BTC KENYA WIDOWS

BTC Kenya’s widows

In Kenya, widows face extraordinary challenges—losing not just their partners, but often their land, their livelihoods, and their standing in the community. Through our comprehensive support programs, we're changing this story. From beadwork cooperatives to legal advocacy, from farming training to financial literacy, we're empowering widows to reclaim their dignity, rebuild their lives, and create sustainable futures for their families. Every widow we support becomes a beacon of hope in her community.

Stories of Transformation

After my husband died, his family took everything. BTC helped me fight for my land rights and taught me beadwork. Now I sell beautiful jewelry at the market and my daughters go to school. I am proud again.
Beadwork Artisan, Nairobi
The chama changed my life. We save together, support each other, and I got a loan to buy chickens. From five chickens, I now have 200! I supply eggs to local schools and employ three other widows.
Poultry Farmer, Kisumu
When drought hit, I thought we would starve. BTC's emergency food kept us alive, then they taught me drought-resistant farming. Now I grow enough cassava and sweet potatoes to feed my family and sell the surplus.
Farmer, Turkana
The widow's support group gave me sisters I never had. We pray together, cry together, and celebrate together. Through M-Pesa training, I now run a mobile money kiosk and help other widows send money to their children.
